April 23, 2024 - CAROLE NOON - 27
YEARS OF DAYCO CUSTOMER SERVICE
Dayco
Australia’s longest serving customer service representative, Carole Noon, has
announced her retirement after spending almost three decades with the company.
Carole’s
career with Dayco Australia commenced 27 years ago when she was offered a part
time customer service position by a friend, when the company was known as
MarkIV Automotive. It wasn’t long before she became a full-time member of the
Melbourne based Dayco customer service team.
Carole
loved her job, the people she worked with and the daily interaction with
customers from the very beginning. Of special note is the fact that Carole’s
dedication and mindset has not changed all these years later. Such was her
dedication to ensuring the best possible customer service, Carole established
several long term customer relationships that would extend across her entire
Dayco customer service career.
“Some
of the comments that Dayco customers have made upon finding out that I was
retiring have brought me to tears,” Carole stated.
“One
customer mentioned that when he first dealt with me at Dayco he remembered that
my son had just started high school. Now my son is 40 years old with a family
of his own. That really brought home how the years have flown by and how
enduring my Dayco customer relationships have been,” Carole added.
Of
all the many changes that have taken place over the past three decades, Carole
says the biggest impact on her career was when Dayco entered the online /
digital age.
“The
real game changer for the customer service team was the introduction of the
Dayco website, online catalogue and especially the electronic ordering system.
We led the industry with our online access, making us even more efficient,
providing an even better customer service experience.
“It
was also great to finally say goodbye to manually keying in stock orders!”
Carole said.
Carole
Noon has also worked across several senior management changes at Dayco
Australia during her long career, with the customer service team remaining a
constant source of support and friendship throughout her tenure.
“My
customer service team and several of the long-term staff at Dayco truly became
my second family. We got through a lot together over the years and genuinely
supported each other. This made it a great place to work.
“This
was particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the company
ensuring that we were completely safe, I was able to get out of the house, go
to work and support our customers’ businesses during those very difficult
couple of years,” Carole said.
Carole
has several great things to look forward to in her retirement, the first will
see her join her already retired husband Ray, two adult children and her
grandchildren on an entire family trip to Bali in July.
Carole
also plans to stay active by helping primary school children with reading and
assisting teachers at her grand children’s schools. She is looking forward to
helping children during their vitally important formative years of learning.
“There
is no doubt that I will miss working at Dayco mainly because of all the long
term friendships that I have made during my long career there. I have
absolutely loved my job from the day I started.
“It
makes me emotional when I think about not being with “my girls” every day, but
I have told them that if they ever need my help, I’m more than happy to
assist,” Carole said.
According
to Dayco Australia Managing Director Arnold Mouw, Carole Noon has left an
indelible mark on the company and its trade customers over almost three
decades.
“Carole
has endeared herself to everyone at Dayco Australia over her long and highly
successful career. Carole is held in the highest regard by our staff along with
our customers due to her genuine passion for her job and her “can do” attitude.
“Carole
will be greatly missed and we are very grateful for her dedication to Dayco
Australia across the past 27 years. We wish her many years of joy in the years
ahead with her family and many friends,” Mr Mouw stated.

March 5, 2024 - DAYCO BEGINS FULL
SCALE BELT PRODUCTION IN MEXICO
Construction of
the facility, which expands Dayco’s presence in North America and subsequently
across the globe, was completed early and belt production in Dayco’s state of
the art facility is already underway.
The official
grand opening ceremony, which took place on the 27th of February, gave Dayco
Chief Executive Officer, Craig Frohock and several of the company’s other
executives, as well as members of the Dayco team that will be operating the
plant, the opportunity to thank representatives of both the Mexican local and
national governments who assisted in the superbly executed completion of the
project.
In advance of the
ceremony, Craig Frohock said, “In addition to the strategic location of this
new facility and the benefits of Mexico’s
free trade agreements , the key to the success of this project has been
the vision we have had and the people behind it.
Alongside the
productivity goals built into its design and the logistical benefits of its
location, the well-being of the Dayco family that work throughout the facility
was of paramount importance in the fulfillment of the overall project. By
considering the needs of our people first and including different amenities
such as a nursery room and a gym, we have developed an environment which
exemplifies our core values and operating principles and allowed us to create a
great working culture in which everyone supports and believes in
each other.”
Due to the
clarity of its design and the co-operation of the local authorities, as well as
the outstanding contributions made by everyone involved, Dayco’s new belt
manufacturing facility opened flawlessly and in record time, after breaking
ground in November 2022. By August 2023 the building was already erected and
during September the freshly recruited production team undertook training in
Argentina, ready for the first prototypes to be produced at the end of November
2023. With everything progressing ahead of schedule, the first production belts
began being manufactured in January 2024.
“We are very
grateful for the help and enthusiasm selflessly given by everyone involved in
this massive project,” Craig continued. “This amazing commitment will allow
Dayco to continue to serve its customers both efficiently and effectively over
the long term.
“In terms of its
scale and capacity, the facility covers 73,000 square feet and is equipped with
state of the art machinery that can produce up to 4.2 million Poly-V belts
annually and which also allows us to expand our production capability to
include EPS or timing belts, for example.
“In addition to
the team on the ground in Mexico, many people in the Dayco family have
supported this project from around the world, and without them, the successful
completion of this facility would not have been possible. So our special thanks
go to all our global team members, who together with our team in Mexico, act
like owners as one Dayco team.”
About Dayco

Fitting in perfectly with the
Bapcor owned company’s commitment to providing its automotive workshop
customers with the most highly qualified equipment experts, is the latest
certification gained by the company’s Vehicle Hoists Category Manager, Christopher
Ciardi.
Ciardi, 37, becomes one of
two people in the world who have currently achieved this highest level of
automotive lift inspection certification outside of North America.
Achieving this incredibly
exclusive level of vehicle lift inspection certification was comprehensive and
intense. Ciardi first sat a 150 question pre-exam to determine eligibility in
Melbourne, which required a pass rate of 80% or better to progress to the next
stage.
Upon successfully passing
this pre-exam, Ciardi then travelled to the United States to undergo a three
day training course located at Rotary Lift’s world leading training facility
located in Madison, Indiana.
According to Ciardi, while
gaining such a globally exclusive level of ALI certification was highly
challenging, it was also a very rewarding and enjoyable process.
“While it did involve intense
study and the accompanying levels of pressure, I have to say that I enjoyed
this training process greatly. The ALI team were very supportive throughout it
and this certification is testament to their commitment to safety by providing
training certifications that are unparalleled anywhere in the world in their
comprehensive detail,” Mr Ciardi stated.
“One of the major benefits is
the higher level of training that I am now able to conduct with our dedicated
team of 39 Precision Automotive Equipment technicians working across the
country. Our customers will continue to benefit from the best possible service
and advice as always, but now at even greater levels,” He added.
For Peter Hewitt, General
Manager of Precision Automotive Equipment, Christopher Ciardi brings a level of
vehicle lift expertise that does not exist anywhere else in the world outside
of North America and the UAE.
“The effort that Christopher
has made to achieve such an exclusive level of training in vehicle lift
technology, safety and servicing is truly remarkable. He brings a level of
expertise that can only be found with us in the Southern Hemisphere,” Mr Hewitt
stated.
“It is another example of our
people and our company’s commitment to providing the highest levels of quality
in our equipment accompanied by world leading levels of training that
Christopher’s ALI Certified Lift Inspector qualification brings. It is another
highly impressive step and commitment to his long-term career with Precision
Automotive Equipment,” He added.
Ciardi joined Precision
Automotive Equipment ten years ago as a qualified mechanic, using his
expertise to become a member of their equipment technician team for four years.
After forging his vehicle lift and associated workshop equipment expertise, he
was then promoted to National Warranty Coordinator for the next two years.
Ciardi celebrated eight years at the company with a promotion to National
Service Manager where he spent the next 18 months, before progressing to his
current role as the Precision Automotive Equipment Vehicle Hoists Category
Manager.

The duo claimed
second in both this year's Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000, and also shared
a third place in the 2021 Great Race.
The only time
they have missed out on a podium as a pairing was last year's Bathurst 1000
and, even then, Kostecki took the chequered flag in fourth position.
“It's a great
feeling to be able to continue building on the last three years with Erebus and
with Brodie,” said Russell.
“To know we will
have that continuity next year coming off the back of a very strong endurance
campaign is great and we definitely have some unfinished business.
“Myself and
Brodie, as well as Erebus as a whole, have a desire to win races and that's
something that's firmly on our minds as we go into the 2024 endurance
campaign.”
Supercars
Championship leader Kostecki qualified on the front row at Sandown and pole
position at Mount Panorama, while Russell was among the quickest co-drivers in
the field.
The performances
had marked the #99 Coca-Cola Camaro out as a major threat for victory, whereas
Erebus had been a more underdog proposition when Russell joined the fold in
2021, one of the final years of Gen2 and a rookie campaign for both of the
squad's full-time drivers.
“It was a bit of
a clean slate for Erebus back in 2021 with two new main drivers and two new
co-drivers joining the team,” he recalled.
“I'm so proud to
be a part of Erebus' journey and to have been part of that transitional phase
as well as this year's Gen3 introduction, it was a no-brainer for me
to continue with the team.
“I really enjoy
seeing Brodie go about his role as the main driver. He's an incredible driver
and it's going to be great to continue our relationship and continue building
off each other's strengths.
“Our goal for
next year, as it always is, is to win races and we're both confident in our
abilities to do that.”
Erebus CEO Barry
Ryan thinks highly of the 41-year-old from Casino, in Northern New South Wales.
“I consider Dave
to be the best co-driver in pit lane so I'm really excited to continue working
with him in 2024,” said Ryan.
“Brodie and Dave
have proven themselves as one of the strongest enduro pairings on the grid and
I have no doubt they'll continue to be at the pointy end at next year's enduro
events.”

Following the open

“It was great to be able to

all areas of the business,” Mr Frohock stated.

stunning Petronas Mustang, take photos and gain a closer understanding of the
intricate engineering work that creates the world’s fastest touring cars.
BRT Co-Team Principal and
2023 Supercars endurance race driver Tim Blanchard was joined by BRT Super2
driver Aaron Love, with Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 podium finisher, Porsche
Carrera Cup racer and long term Dayco Ambassador David Russell at the Dayco
Christmas BBQ. All three special guests took part in fun and interesting
interviews covering the exciting year of motorsport that had just been
completed, their plans for the holidays and a look ahead into the 2024 season.
“We were delighted to welcome
our global CEO and HR Director to Melbourne, making themselves openly available
to all our staff as well. They gained a detailed insight to our business in
Australia, our customers and our plans for continued growth in the automotive
aftermarket sector,” Mr Mouw stated.
“Our staff Christmas

Many 4x4 owners across Australia have
invested significantly in their heavy duty work and off-road leisure vehicles,
so it makes perfect sense to fit the highest quality suspension components when
upgrading or enhancing the off-road capabilities of these vehicles.
Increasing 4x4 vehicle height has the direct
effect of altering the vehicle’s wheel alignment. This in turn leads to
premature tyre wear along with less responsive vehicle handling.
Blackhawk 4x4 Ultimate Adjustable Upper
Control Arms have been designed to provide a variety of wheel alignment options
that were previously unavailable with this level of finesse in 4x4 vehicle
specific suspension components.
This new range of on-vehicle adjustable upper
control arms allows easy adjustment, thereby alleviating handling issues by
returning the suspension geometry and alignment back to factory specification
or better. This also complements the travel available from many aftermarket
suspension upgrades.
Blackhawk 4×4 Ultimate
Adjustable Upper Control Arms include all of the practical features that can be
found with 4x4 competition vehicles, refined to best suit harsh Australian
off-road conditions. These suspension components also provide the durability
and driveability to be expected from a premium quality manufactured product
that meets and exceeds Original Equipment specifications.
Offering unrivalled innovation, each Blackhawk
4x4 Ultimate Adjustable Upper Control Arm includes a proprietary ball
joint that provides a high degree of articulation, enabling more suspension
travel. The unique Blackhawk Ultimate design enables a mechanic or experienced
4x4 enthusiast to disassemble, service or rebuild the ball joint at any time
using basic hand tools.
The innovative design of these outstanding
Blackhawk 4x4 Ultimate Adjustable Upper Control Arms includes a patented
on-vehicle adjustment capability with a built-in caster increase of one degree.
This allows for precise camber and caster corrections for wheel alignments and
positioning.
Each Blackhawk 4X4 Ultimate Adjustable Upper
Control Arm features a forged aluminium 6082 mainframe that delivers superior
light weight strength that exceeds OEM specifications. They also feature
maintenance free high quality rubber inner bushings and are finished with
durable coatings that have been designed to withstand the harshest driving
conditions. The threaded adjustment mechanism is nitride hardened, ensuring
longer thread life and superior corrosion control.
Double mechanical 4140 chromoly locking nuts
and state of the art manufacturing processes make the Blackhawk 4X4 Ultimate
Adjustable Upper Control Arm range the optimum choice for serious 4X4 owners
and off-road enthusiasts.
Importantly, all Blackhawk 4X4 Ultimate
Adjustable Upper Control Arms are NCOP / ADR compliable for street legal use
when fitted by an accredited installer with engineer sign-off / certification.
This offers your customers total confidence in fitment and long-term use.
Providing your customers with peace of mind is
important when selecting upgraded 4x4 suspension components. The Blackhawk 4X4
Ultimate Adjustable Upper Control Arm range has and continues to be subjected
to rigorous product testing to ensure that this is the case.
Product testing has included Independent
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of UCA to NCOP VSB14. Physical tests of the
adjustment mechanism have also been carried out to simulate fatigue, overturn
and skid loading to validate its FEA Engineering endorsement. These premium
quality suspension components have also undergone physical torsion testing,
along with a stringent ongoing local quality assurance program, and are backed
by a comprehensive warranty for additional peace of mind.
Various Blackhawk 4X4 Ultimate Adjustable
Upper Control Arm applications are now available, with more applications to be

October 9 2023 - DAYCO
DAVE STARS AT BATHURST
Long term
Dayco Ambassador David Russell has starred in the 60th Anniversary
Bathurst 1000 held at the majestic Mount Panorama circuit from October 5 to 8,
2023.
Co-driving
with Supercars Championship leader Brodie Kostecki in the Coca-Cola powered by
Erebus #99 Camaro, Russell set the fastest lap of the entire field in opening
co-driver practice, being the only driver to set a lap time in the 2:05 minute
bracket, more than half a second faster than the entire field.
Considering
that the co-driver field included former Supercars champions Jamie Whincup and
Garth Tander, among many other highly experienced racers, Russell set the benchmark
for how the weekend would progress for the team.
Kostecki then
firmly confirmed his and Russell’s intentions for the weekend by qualifying on
provisional Pole position on Friday, following this up with a thrilling fastest
Top Ten Shoot Out lap on Saturday. Despite losing time at turn one with a slight
rear slide and some wheelspin, Kostecki blasted the team into Pole position by
almost half a second. This proved yet again what an outstanding young talent he
is, outpacing the entire field on one of the world’s most challenging motor
racing circuits. All of this while under the extreme pressure of being behind
the pace early in his lap and also being the final driver to set his one and
only fast lap against the clock.
By Saturday
afternoon it was clear that the Russell / Kostecki combination would be the
team to beat, fastest in all but one track session of the entire weekend by significant margins. This along
with having no accidents or mechanical issues from the moment their Camaro
Supercar rolled out of the team transporter, placed them in a formidable
position for the race.
Starting
from Pole position, Russell made a strong start, slotting into formation behind
Jamie Whincup to hold second position where he remained until the first driver
change under yellows on lap 28.
The second
Safety Car of the race was called on lap 40 resulting in a double stack pit
stop with Russell and Kostecki the first of the two Erebus Camaros to be
serviced.
Lap 64 saw the second driver change of the epic race with Russell
taking the reins for his final 27 lap stint as the unchallenged race leader. Another
Safety Car was deployed on lap 70 when James Moffat hit the wall at the top of
the mountain. Unfortunately, the team had pitted just six laps earlier, so the
#99 charged on, but this saw the eventual winner (Kiwi Camaro duo Shane Van
Gisbergen and Richie Stanaway) gain a 13 second fuel advantage over Russell and
Kostecki.
The Erebus duo led a total of 38 laps and despite Kostecki’s
fast pace in the closing stages, it wasn’t enough to beat the Kiwis at the end.
This second place was also the second podium Bathurst 1000 finish for the
incredibly fast Kostecki and Russell enduro pairing in three years. It followed
yet another superb second place finish at the Sandown 500 in September.
For Russell, while Bathurst victory was the ultimate goal,
he, Kostecki and his hard working team had done all that they could to try and
win Australia’s great race.
“It was a bit nerve-wracking from the start with Whincup
alongside me on the grid and he has a few more Supercar race starts than me
under his belt….
“I got off to a reasonable start and slotted in behind him
and started applying pressure and this enabled us both to open a gap to the
rest of the field. From that point it was a matter of setting consistent laps
with no mistakes to hand the car back to Brodie in good shape,” Russell said.
“Brodie was outstanding as always and the team did an
excellent job, mega car speed, great pit work, we had everything in place to
try and win it. We’ll be back next year even stronger and faster, that’s for
sure,” Russell added.
The Dayco sponsored racer was performing double duties at
Bathurst once again this year, piloting his EBM Porsche Carrera Cup car in
three races. He was joined by a new sponsor for this high profile round,
Australian family owned tool company, Prokit who promoted their trade trusted
PK Tool brand on his #99 Porsche Cup Car.
After leading the all-important Carrera Cup qualifying
session on Thursday, a fuel pressure problem late in the session saw him unable
to complete it, relegating him to 9th for the first of three Bathurst races.
With prior Bathurst Porsche Carrera Cup race wins and fastest laps under his
belt, Russell again showed his Mount Panorama speed to race his way to start
from 4th by the Sunday’s third and final race. As luck would have it, Russell’s
PK Tool Porsche was rear impacted on the first lap by a competitor, relegating
him to 14th by the end of the short nine lap race.
A massive weekend crowd of 204,069 people attended the 60th
anniversary running of Australia’s Great Race, the third highest total in the event’s
history. Many millions more watched the event on television and via live
streaming.
According to Dayco Australia Managing Director, Arnold Mouw,
the company’s highly successful long term association with David Russell
continues to deliver valuable automotive trade and enthusiast coverage for the
global company.
“We couldn’t be prouder of what Dayco Dave has achieved at
Bathurst this year, he just gets faster and faster across the 12 years that he
has been an ambassador for our company and his effort this year at Bathurst was
just incredible.
“As sponsor of the fastest Supercar co-driver in the field,
all of us at Dayco look forward to next year at the mountain where I’m sure
that the next step up on the podium beckons,” Mr Mouw stated.
The Dayco brand could not be missed at Mount Panorama this
year with the logo onboard with talented Super2 driver Aaron Love, who won one
of the races of the weekend in an exciting inaugural Supercar race victory for
the Blanchard Racing Team. Dayco was also aboard the Cooldrive Mustang with
Todd Hazelwood and Tim Blanchard in the Bathurst 1000 who were heading towards
a points earning finish until mechanical failures ended their challenge.

PREMIUM QUALITY ELECTRIC WATER PUMP RANGE
Electric Water
Pumps have become an indispensable element in maintaining optimal functioning
of a vehicle engine’s cooling system. These water pumps greatly improve engine
cooling control and they assist in generating more torque and horsepower, while
also improving fuel economy.
Conventional
water pumps are driven by the engine belt or the timing belt, so the higher the
revs, the more water circulates through the engine cooling system. To manage
the circulation, a thermostat closes or opens the system depending on the
temperature. Using a Dayco Electric Water Pump, the coolant adjustment is
electronically managed and activated in the event of a specific cooling
requirements.
More and more
engines in Australia are or will be equipped with electric water pumps, either
as the engine’s main water pump or as an additional water pump. In Hybrid
vehicles, the electric water pump also cools the high-voltage inverter, which
is of prime importance to the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle.
Dayco brings its
design and manufacturing leadership from more than 110 years of success in the
automotive OE and Aftermarket sectors to its premium quality range of electric
water pumps. All Dayco electric water pumps have been tested in accordance with
OE requirements and are manufactured to ensure perfect installation.
Dayco offers
Australian and New Zealand automotive repairers and re-sellers a wide range of
electric water pump applications. This new range is under continual development
to meet global aftermarket replacement or fitment requirements.
Dayco also offers
additional electric water pump variants for the cooling of stop-start systems,
after-run and turbochargers along with inverters and battery packs found in
modern EV and Hybrid vehicles. In some newer EV models, up to four electric
water pumps can be fitted.
Dayco Electric
Water Pumps ensure increased fuel economy, reduced emissions through improved
engine efficiency and improved energy consumption control.

July 24, 2023 - COMPLETE 4WD FILTRATION FROM DIRECTION
PLUS
The Direction Plus range of quality 4WD
specific aftermarket products is designed with protection of the vehicle as the
key priority. This core range of Pre-filters, Catch Cans and Automatic
Transmission Coolers are suitable for anyone wanting to protect their 4WD
vehicle investment.
Direction Plus
offers two types of 4WD water filtration products; Fuel Manager which features
the traditional visual inspection water catchment bowl, and PreLine-Plus by
Mann & Hummel which offers an in-car visual and audible alert of water
detection.
Direction Plus
water separator kits are an innovative pre-filter system for diesel fuel
systems which have been designed to ensure a high degree of water separation
and particle pre-separation. All of these kits meet the specifications set by
leading manufacturers of diesel fuel-injection systems. These kits have also
been designed to filter out water contamination which occurs through
condensation, bad fuel from service stations or in jerry cans and other storage
containers.
Without adequate
pre-filtration, water ingression can damage fuel injection systems over time
and in bad cases can lead to very expensive engine repairs. Direction Plus also
offers a new range of secondary diesel filters (post-filters) that are designed
to filter out finer particle contamination compared to the OEM specification
fuel filter. Dust, gritty material, bugs etc are all types of fuel
contamination that are abrasive and can damage fuel injection system components
over time.
Direction Plus also
offers blow by gas diesel fuel protection with their range of Provent
Ultimate Catch Cans. These filtration products ensure optimum engine
performance by protecting against the carbon build up and blockage that blow by
gas causes. Without adequate diesel engine filtration, oil and soot
contamination leads to inefficient intake system operation, which in turn
causes increased fuel consumption.
All filtration
products in the Direction Plus range come with vehicle specific mounting kits
which are easy to fit for DIY enthusiasts or mechanics and do not void vehicle
warranties.
In addition to
this premier range of fuel filtration products, Direction Plus also offers
outstanding quality Transchill 4WD Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Kits.
These kits have been designed specifically to reduce excessive transmission
heat caused by towing, carrying loads and driving in sand, snow, off-road, in
heavy traffic or under hot conditions.
These Transchill
4WD transmission oil kits offer an economical and efficient way to help protect
automatic 4WD vehicles against costly transmission repairs. A reduction of
transmission oil temperature of just 11C can double the life expectancy of a 4WD
transmission, the transmission fluid and all internal components. Direction-Plus
TransChill Automatic Transmission Coolers are capable of reducing the
temperature of automatic transmission fluid (ATF) by as much as 33C.

ROADSAFE RESEAR
June 26, 2023 - BURSON AUTO PARTS TOP FUEL CHAMPIONSHIP GOES
DOWN TO THE WIRE IN DARWIN
The 2022/2023 Burson Auto
Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship reached its exciting conclusion at the
spectacular Nitro Up North night round at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Dragway on
June 16 and 17.
It
was a motorsport fan’s feast in Australia’s top end with enthusiastic crowds
welcoming the Burson Auto Parts Top Fuel Championship which was held in
conjunction with the 5th round of the Australian Supercars
Championship and round four of the Australian Superbike Championship at the
Darwin Triple Crown event.
Darwin’s heat and humidity coupled with a green (not frequently raced on)
racing surface proved a tough challenge for all of the Top Fuel drivers and
teams to negotiate across the entire two night event.
In qualifying, both Lamattina Top Fuel Racing team cars struggled to find
traction, qualifying in fourth and fifth position. As a consequence, Phil
Lamattina and his Burson Auto Parts Dragster team mate Shane Olive had to race
each other in round one. This inter-team side by side battle saw team owner
Lamattina fractionally victorious with his 4.16s pass compared to Olive’s 4.27s
run.
The second round saw Olive take a solo run, but the Burson Auto Parts fueller
shook and turned the tyres at the sixty-foot mark. Lamattina’s round two
heroics didn’t yield an Elapsed Time (ET) quick enough to qualify for the
A-Final. Lamattina again out-pedalled rival Wayne Newby to the finish line for
the win, in the process jumping Newby in the championship for a season ending
fourth place.
Olive
had progressed into the C-Final against Kyle Putland, and the Burson Auto Parts
team delivered the run of the event – a 3.95 second win - the lowest ET and
highlight of the Nitro Up North event.
It
was an emotional result for the Burson Auto Parts team who have fought fuel
system gremlins over the entire season. A change in fuel pump for this event
served to address the majority of the issues and helped to produce a fine send
off for the team.
According to Olive, “We have struggled during the last few meetings, but one
run makes all the difference. I am just really happy for my team, the
Lammatinas, my young crew chief Dean Rossiter who really has only been in the
role at the last few meetings, and Burson Auto Parts - I am just so blessed to
have them,” said an emotional Olive.
Team Owner, Phil Lamattina, is proud of all that Shane Olive and the Burson
Auto Parts team have achieved in their two seasons of Top Fuel competition.
“Shane assembled that crew from scratch, it is a credit to him and the team to
do what needed to be done,” said Lamattina. “It is not an easy task to put one
of these cars on the start line, he and the whole crew done it to the best of
their ability every single time.
“A
huge thank you to Burson Auto Parts too, for supporting the team, making it
happen, and sticking by LTFR and Shane,” He added.
With the 2022/2023 Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship now at a
close, the team can look back at it as a character building one.
“We can now put this season in the books and move on,” lamented Lamattina. “But
even though all was looking lost at the start of the season, we still had the
fortitude to turn it around and finish the year strongly. I ran a PB, had some
podium results, and we turned Shane’s car around in the end, it puts us in a
good position for the start of next season.”
The
2022/2023 Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship final round saw a
three way fight at Darwin’s final round between Damian Harris, Peter Xiberras
and Phil Read. It was Harris who emerged victorious, gaining the Stan Sainty
Cup for the Rapisarda Autosport International team as soon as his second round
win at the event. The overall 2023 Nitro Up North event winner was Xiberras and
his PremiAir Top Fuel Team.

Driving Innovation in Automotive Testing
and Research
Roadsafe, a
pioneering name in the world of chassis parts for the automotive aftermarket,
has been leading the way in parts excellence for over 40 years.
The company’s
dedication to safety and quality has never been more apparent than in the
extensive research and testing undertaken by the Roadsafe Research and
Development (R&D) department based in Melbourne.
All Roadsafe
product testing is conducted in a dedicated Research and Design facility, along
with the use of local sealed and unsealed roads. This purpose-built facility
supports the ongoing development and testing of Roadsafe 4WD, suspension and
chassis products.
At the forefront
of Roadsafe's R&D activities are the robust and state-of-the-art testing
facilities supported with an impressive range of tools and machinery. A prime
example is the inclusion of shock absorber dynamometers for local Roadsafe
shock absorber product range testing. Through rigorous durability, gas
pressure, drag, valving forces and speed tests, Roadsafe can meticulously
analyse the performance and longevity of their replacement shock absorbers,
ensuring that their products are synonymous with reliability.
The Roadsafe
emphasis on aftermarket shock absorber product quality includes visual
inspections from welding areas to the paint finish. Every detail is
meticulously examined. Moreover, vehicle fitment inspections play a critical
role in validating correct mounting, including L-min, L-max, droop, and fouling
issues. Such comprehensive scrutiny guarantees Roadsafe products not only meet
but exceed Australian standards.
Beyond shock
absorbers, the Roadsafe R&D department continues to push the envelope in other
chassis parts testing at the factory. Cyclic testing simulates the stresses
these parts would experience under relevant vehicle curb weights. Pull-out
testing measures the force required to pull a component from its assembly,
while drop testing determines the resilience of the part upon impact. Hardness
testing further reveals the strength and durability of the parts’ material,
with each test completed on original OEM product to provide a benchmark for the
Roadsafe product.
The assessment,
dismantling and detailed product investigation for ongoing development finds
the Roadsafe R&D department equipped with a range of world leading testing
and general automotive trade equipment. These high tech testing products
include the industry leading Hunter Elite wheel aligner along with a Lathe and
Mill, joined by a range of saws and presses. The precision testing equipment
also includes a Vernier, Micrometre, Durometer and Hardness Testers.
To uphold its
credibility and reliability, Roadsafe partners with the National Association of
Testing Authorities (NATA) for local testing as needed and as a part of the
ongoing quality assurance process. This collaboration assures Roadsafe products
undergo testing compliant with globally recognised standards, bolstering their
reputation and trade customers' trust.
Roadsafe's
innovative R&D is not confined to traditional testing methods. The
department also leverages 3D Scanning, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and 3D
test printing for their newly designed products. Employing cutting-edge 3D
scanning and printing capabilities, the Roadsafe R&D team can create,
analyse and refine prototypes until satisfied with a final version before
actual production, thereby expediting the product development process while
ensuring the highest level of precision.
The Roadsafe
R&D department's commendable work contributes to this company’s market
leadership. This dedicated team not only reinforces the brand's commitment to
quality and safety, but they also manifest their drive for innovation and
excellence in the automotive industry. Over the past four decades, Roadsafe has
distributed steering and suspension products that reflect the R&D team’s
relentless pursuit of perfection.
The Roadsafe
R&D facility is integral for more than product testing, design, and
research. It also enables Roadsafe to constantly design and develop new
automotive chassis and suspension component parts specifically to suit the
Australian automotive aftermarket.
Roadsafe is not
just a name but a promise, a commitment to safety and durability. Its robust
R&D practices play a pivotal role in meeting this promise. By prioritising
rigorous testing, embracing cutting-edge technologies and valuing customer
safety above all, Roadsafe solidifies its position as a leader in the
Australian automotive aftermarket. The meticulous attention to detail, constant
strive for innovation, and an unyielding commitment to quality are what make

June 8, 2023 - NITRO AFTERMARKET GEAR AND AXLE PARTS FOR QUALITY AND
RANGE
Drive or gear ratios play a
crucial role in determining how a vehicle's engine power is transferred to the
wheels. When larger wheels and tyres are fitted to a vehicle, it can affect the
overall drive ratio. This results in reduced acceleration, higher fuel
consumption and increased wear on both the engine and the transmission.
Nitro Gear packages ensure
optimal performance when fitting larger wheels and tyres to a vehicle. This is imperative
in order to maintain optimal performance, fuel efficiency and power delivery.
The advantages of adjusting a
vehicle’s drive ratios through the fitment of Nitro Gear packages are many:
Optimised performance: Maintain or improve your vehicle's acceleration
and responsiveness, allowing it to perform at its best with the fitment of
larger wheels and tyres.
Preserved fuel efficiency:
Ensure that a vehicle's engine doesn't have to work harder to turn the larger
wheels, which leads to increased fuel consumption. Adjusting the drive ratios
can help maintain or even improve a vehicle's fuel economy.
Engine and transmission
protection: Larger wheels and tyres can put more strain on the engine and
transmission, increasing the likelihood of component failure. Changing the
drive ratios can help alleviate this stress, prolonging the life of a vehicle's
critical components.
Enhanced off-road
capabilities: For 4WD and other off-road vehicles, adjusting the drive ratios
can improve traction and torque delivery in challenging terrain, ensuring
better control and stability.
Nitro gears are precision
manufactured from an 8620 Steel Gear Forging that is Rockwell tested for
hardness, triple lapped for smoothness and precisely machined employing a five
cut process. The advantage of this process is that material is removed in
a slower, more efficient and accurate method, resulting in gear sets that are
arguably the quietest on the market with a set up that is significantly easier
and less time consuming during fitment.
The Nitro range has
applications and ratios that other brands do not. An example of this is the
fact that Nitro was the first aftermarket supplier to offer the current
Hilux / Tacoma gear set options.
Nitro was born from
enthusiasts who recognised that the industry needs and wants quality
replacement or upgraded gear and axle products at an affordable price,
supported by a two year product warranty.
Original Equipment gear sets are designed to work with standard wheels and
tyres, they do a reasonable job with standard ratios for both price and
general usage.
Nitro was the first
aftermarket brand to kit each entire gear kit installation into one easy part
number. So instead of having to manage dozens of part numbers for inventory,
technicians can order one part number and know that they have everything they
need.
Ease of installation is a
standout feature of all Nitro Gear kits. Nitro gears are manufactured at the
same facilities as most OE gears, offering a unique benefit for technicians who
are just re-gearing a vehicle to adjust for larger tyres (and other minor
upgrades from standard). If it is a relatively fresh install, the Nitro Gear
packages will set up typically to factory shim spec.
This means that once the
existing gear set is measured and the new Nitro gears are set up to that spec,
more times than not, it will set up perfectly straight out of the box. This is
a unique feature offered by Nitro. Many workshops will quote book time but if
the job can be done in half the time and it doesn’t come back, that equals
higher profits on not only that job, but in allowing the technician to move to
the next vehicle on the booking schedule.
Nitro Gear and Axle product
stock level inventory, in Australia, is based on local workshop demand. This ensures a faster supply service for a
premium quality, precision engineered automotive aftermarket product from the
USA.
The Nitro Gear and Axle
product range provides a convenient and reliable solution for adjusting your
customer’s vehicle drive ratios to best suit their requirements.
Roadsafe is the nation’s
exclusive distributor of Nitro Gear and Axle products for the ever growing

May 16, 2023 - BURSON BEN RACES TO DOUBLE ISLAND TCR PODIUM
Coming
directly after racing to the Top Rookie honours in his debut international TCR
races held at Portimao Raceway in Portugal just two weeks ago, Bargwanna and
his Burson Auto Parts TCR Australia team got things off to a strong start by
qualifying 5th at the fast and spectacular Victorian seaside
circuit.
Problems
discovered after qualifying required an engine change and with that Bargwanna
was handed a five place starting grid penalty, relegating the Burson Auto Parts
racer to 10th on the competitive TCR grid for Saturday’s first race.
According
to the Bargwanna, the penalty made things harder but with a great car under him
it wasn’t long before the situation was rectified.
“I
made a wicked start to the first race and went from 10th to 4th before turn one !
With some epic race battles I was able to come home in 5th to grab some good
points and return to where I qualified.
“Race
2 was in a reverse grid format, so I started 5th once again. I got a great
start and made my way up to 4th, an early pass around the outside on
the first lap promoted me to 3rd. I chased down the leaders and crossed the
finish line 3rd for my first TCR podium result of the year.
“Race
3 was the most intense of them all, our GRM team had worked hard to have four
fast Peugeots by this stage. After another good start I was 3rd on the first
lap. Some really intense battles led to a great race including some immense
pressure from my teammate Jordan Cox behind me, but after a very close and fair
battle I came home 3rd for another podium,” Bargwanna said.
After
a long delay from the opening 2023 TCR Australia Championship round held at
Tasmania’s Symmons Plains Raceway back in February, it is a relatively short
wait to Round 3 to be held at Victoria’s Winton Motor Raceway from June 9 to
11. The series will visit Ipswich, Melbourne, Sydney and Bathurst through to
November.

May 4, 2023 - BURSON AUTO PARTS AND PEAK
LUBRICANTS CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF BURSON OIL SUCCESS
The Australian company’s lubricant product quality and reliability came
to trade customer prominence in 1993, when Burson Auto Parts and Australian
lubricant product manufacturer, Peak Lubricants, began an association that has
resulted in more than thirty years of success in providing premium
Peak Lubricants Founder, Ron Shugg, established his Victorian based
lubricant company in 1982 after having successfully worked with both the Shell
and Esso oil companies across blend plants, service stations and in marketing
and sales positions. The enterprising automotive businessman then expanded his
operations to supply lubricants and other automotive products to local
workshops and parts stores. It was at this time that Peak Lubricants embarked
on a successful lubricant product manufacturing and marketing alliance with the
then relatively small and solely Victorian based, Burson Auto Parts business of
just 24 stores.
“As Burson Auto Parts had developed an extremely loyal trade customer
base, they needed their own lubricant products that needed to be high quality
and be able to stand out on their own against the much bigger and better known
brands.
“The very first Burson Oil lubricant products that we manufactured were
the Burson Four Litre Super 25w50 blend and the Five Litre Burson Automatic
Transmission oil,” Mr Shugg recalled.
“From these humble beginnings, we have worked together across three decades
to ensure that Burson Auto Parts remains highly competitive in Australia’s
incredibly diverse vehicle lubricant market.
“We now have more than 300 SKU’s now available in the Burson Oil product
range to meet the exacting requirements of Australia’s automotive repairers and
service centres,” Mr Shugg added.
“‘You can trust Burson’ was a slogan that the company used, so it was
always imperative to us that Burson Auto Parts’ trade customers were always
able to place their complete trust in the company’s private brand lubricant
range. To achieve this, we embarked on detailed product testing and development
and this has been a constant throughout our 30 year business relationship,” He
stated.

Europe Rookie Trophy in his debut international TCR event held at the Portimao
circuit in Portugal on April 29 and 30.
Bargwanna stood
on the podium alongside legendary TCR Europe race winner Tom Coronel after
winning the TCR Rookie Trophy for his result of 12th overall in the
event’s closely contested second race.
The Burson Auto
Parts racer made a great start from 19th on the starting grid and held

front to quickly move to 13th. Bargwanna gained another place to 12th after a
post-race penalty was handed to a rival competitor.
This result gave
Bargwanna the TCR Europe Rookie Trophy, the young driver’s first international
racing accolade.
“What a race!,”
Bargwanna said. “It’s been incredible and I can’t thank Team Clairet
Sport enough.
“I came home top
rookie and 12th outright from 19th on the grid. I’m so stoked, over
the moon - I can’t stop smiling.
“It’s been a
whirlwind of emotions this weekend, but it has been one of the best of my life.
I’m so happy, I can’t thank the Clairets, my parents and Burson Auto Parts and
my sponsor group enough, it’s been incredible and I’m seriously so pleased.
“I’m covered in
champagne, I’ve got a trophy and it’s not what I expected to be coming home
with, but I’m so happy.
Bargwanna
continues his Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series campaign at Phillip Island
as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on May 12-14, before heading back to Europe

May 1, 2023 - CELEBRATING TWO OUTSTANDING AUTOMOTIVE CAREERS
Bapcor, Australasia’s largest automotive aftermarket specialised company, is proud of
its people, their dedication to their customers and to their fulfilling
careers.
One shining example of this
is Ian Carlsson, who started out with a company that became a part of Burson
Auto Parts, Motor Traders (Adelaide), back on January 11, 1978.
Ian’s 45 years of service
started at the Wakefield Street Motor Traders store 45 years ago as a packer
and as with all newbies, he was the morning tea person. Within five years he
was transferred to the Holden Hill store and became 2IC there, clearly showing
his talent and dedication to the business and its customers very early.
Ian then moved onto a long
and rewarding career at the Kilkenny store where he went from 2IC to Store
Manager. He then progressed to the Kilburn store as Front Counter Manager and
once Motor Traders was acquired by Burson Auto Parts, he became the Wingfield
store 2IC.
Still proudly working with
the company after 45 years, Ian is now the Storeman (and handy jack of all
trades) at Wingfield, South Australia’s largest Burson Auto Parts store. According
to Ian, his career has seen him meet some fantastic people along the journey,
especially his good mate Joe Brosz, with whom he has spent the majority of his
outstanding 45 year tenure. He describes the integration of Motor Traders to
Burson Auto Parts as a breath of fresh air that the business needed.
Joe Brosz’s 50 year career
started with Motor Traders on December 4, 1972. His first day started at the
Wakefield Street store, although it was a very short stint before moving across
to the Kilkenny store. The manager at the time was Max Mooney and Joe being a
junior had to call him Mr. Mooney. It took four years before Joe, by then a
senior parts interpreter, was given permission to call him Max!
Joe spent the next 14 years
at Kilkenny before he was transferred back to the Wakefield Street store as the
General Department Manager, followed by a move to the Ford department, spending
just over 22
Joe spent 38 years at Motor
Traders before it became a part of Burson Auto Parts in 2011, the veteran parts
interpreter moving from Kilburn to the current Wingfield store. Joe has and continues to enjoy his five decade
career with this proudly Australian company and considers the great friendships
that he has made along the journey as being the main highlights. He is also
adamant that he wouldn’t have changed a thing about his career choice.
All at Bapcor congratulate
both Ian Carlsson and Joe Brosz and thank them for their multi-decade
commitment to the company and more importantly, to its trade customers.

Australia’s preferred trade supplier of automotive
parts, tools and equipment, Burson Auto Parts, offers the ever growing 4WD
repair and upgrading sector of the aftermarket a much wider choice of performance
brake rotors with the Bendix Ultimate 4WD Sports and Performance disc brake
rotor range.
An often overlooked part of
4WD vehicle modification, brake system upgrades are an important consideration
to help keep your customers’ 4WD vehicles as safe as possible, particularly
those that are subject to regular heavy caravan, boat or trailer towing.
Fitting larger tyres also
adds to 4WD vehicle braking system demands. As a general rule, if the tyre
radius is increased by 10 per cent, the amount of extra braking force needed to
safely bring the vehicle to a halt will also be approximately 10 per cent. The
fitment of larger 4WD tyres also increases the level of rotating mass inertia, which
also places more demand on 4WD braking systems.
The Burson Auto Parts range
of Bendix Ultimate 4WD Sports and Disc Brake Rotors along with the perfectly
suited Bendix Ultimate 4WD Disc Brake Pad range, provides significantly
increased 4WD braking capacity through a number of design enhancements.
4WD specific metallurgy
increases rotor strength at elevated temperatures while also providing high
wear resistance. Bendix 4WD specific metallurgy increases overall rotor
durability and reduces the chance of warping under extreme operating
temperatures, ensuring no performance compromises.
High efficiency cooling
pillars have been designed to channel cool air into the rotor, expelling hot
air faster and increasing rotor resistance to thermal cracks and minimising the
chance of rotor distortion. These design additions also reduce brake fade and
deliver improved braking feel along with shorter stopping distances.
Additional braking
performance is achieved through Bendix exclusive Diamond Tip Slot
Technology.
This feature uses specially
designed slots and V-shaped dimples on the brake rotor surface to expel gasses,
dirt and water more efficiently. The system also keeps the brakes primed for
the next corner or decent. By using dimples at a precise depth rather than
holes, greater braking power is achieved while retaining the strength of a
solid rotor.
Along with providing extra
braking performance and durability compared to standard 4WD disc brake rotors,
this new Bendix 4WD disc brake rotor range from Burson Auto Parts maintains OEM
levels of refinement, offering quiet operation and noise suppression, with all
products in the range manufactured using SAE J431 material standards.
To assist automotive
technicians, Bendix Ultimate 4WD Sports and Performance Disc Brake Rotors also
feature Bendix’s SwiftFit surface protection, which allows the rotors to be
fitted immediately once removed from the packaging without the need to clean
the anti-rust oil coating as found on the surface of other rotors in the
market. SwiftFit surface protection also prevents corrosion of the rotor
resulting in a longer shelf life, longer fault free service and a rust-free
rotor hat which is often visible behind open alloy wheels to maintain
aesthetics.
The Bendix Ultimate 4WD
Sports and Performance Disc Brake Rotor range is available now from all Burson
Auto Parts stores nationwide, offering 63 part numbers to suit more than 87% of
4WDs being driven on Australia’s roads. These include 4WD models from
Chevrolet, Ford, Holden, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda,
Mitsubishi, Nissan, RAM, Toyota and VW.

March 6, 2023 - MAJOR VOTE OF
CONFIDENCE IN THE HUNTER WINALIGN HEAVY DUTY WHEEL ALIGNER FROM NOLAN’S
INTERSTATE TRANSPORT
Australia’s leading automotive
workshop equipment suppliers, fitters and service providers, Precision
Automotive Equipment, prides itself on achieving outstanding customer
satisfaction.
As the exclusive Australian distributor
of the world leading Hunter range of wheel service equipment products,
Precision Equipment recently supplied the busy Nolan’s Interstate Transport
(QLD) workshop with a state of the art Hunter WinAlign Heavy Duty Wheel
Aligner.
Designed specifically for heavy duty
vehicles, Hunter’s WinAlign system includes unique alignment features to suit a
comprehensive range of truck, trailer and bus applications.
According to Aaron Mogg, Workshop
Manager of Nolan’s Interstate Transport, the Hunter WinAlign Wheel Aligner has
been a total game changer for their business efficiency.
“Since the implementation of the Hunter
WinAlign Wheel Aligner some 12 months ago we have significantly reduced our
tyre costs per month,” Mr Mogg said.
“We are currently running approximately
2,000 axles in the Nolan’s Transport fleet and we noticed a small saving after
the first three months of using this aligner, but it was after the first year
where the savings proved to be remarkable.
“Before we purchased the Hunter aligner,
we averaged $135K per month in tyre costs (using an external aligner), now we
are spending $85K per month.
“We currently only do wheel alignments
when a full set of drives are replaced, when a set of steers are replaced, or
if a driver complaint comes in. On that point, the compliments we are getting
from our drivers to our mechanics are very rewarding. Anyone in this business
will tell you that getting compliments from drivers is not easy!” Mr Mogg
concluded.
Features of the Hunter WinAlign WA670EDSP760T Wheel Aligner from Precision
Automotive Equipment include:
